Bace 80’s music thread reminded me of a question I had for some time. Did Phil Collins play the drums for Genesis when Peter Gabriel was the lead singer?

Yes he did. When Peter G. left, they had audition after audition to find a replacement, using Phil Collins as a base to give those auditioning something to go from. The band simply decided they liked the way Phil C. sounded better than any of those who auditioned. Genesis then became bigger than it ever had been with Peter Gabriel. And Peter became bigger on his own than he ever did with Genesis.
