Pictures in Bright Sunlight

What can you do when taking pictures in bright sunlight to keep the people from squinting so much as they face into the sun?
 
Simply don't have them face the sun. You can't expect people not to squint when looking into the sun.

Actually, if you could use a diffuser in between them and the sun, it would make for nice lighting.

Have your subjects turn away from the sun and then do something to get some light back into their faces as fill light. Either flash or a reflector would be good.
