I am pretty new to photogrpahy especially the digital aspect of it. I have a couple pictures that I would like to edit and I was wondering what kind of software is available to edit them. I have an apple computer so I think I am limited to the type of software that is available? Is aperature used for editing?

Capture One 4, from Phase One, is an excellent program, and the non-pro version is pretty inexpensive and very fully featured. Oddly, I discovered this program when I got it free with SanDisk flash cards... weird for such a nice piece of software.

Aperture, Lighroom, Photoshop, Elements (you have to buy license for them)
Gimp(a free version of photoshop) and other free versions.
Depends on what you are looking to do, heavy retouching or just a few adjustments.
