Question about teleconverter

I'm looking to rent the canon 2x teleconverter from borrowlenses.com

It says it only works with certain lenses, and I'm lead to believe it wont work for me.... but I thought I'd ask anyway.

I have a Canon T2i and a Tamron 70-200 2.8. Does anyone have experience with this setup? If I rented the TC would I be wasting money?

I really don't want to buy a TC, but I was looking at the Kenko and Tamron versions.

Why not just e-mail them and ask?

I could, and if I don't hear from anyone who has tried it, I will. I'm fairly certain that they will tell me the info that the manufacturer has stated, which only lists canon lenses.

I wouldn't put a 2x on that lens

The reason that the converter only works with certain lenses is because the rear glass is flush with the mount and doesn't allow room for the protruding element of the converter to mount with the lens. Is the glass in the back of your lens recessed? If so, it will probably fit.
