Quqestion, please help

This is my very first post here.

What size should a pic must be to be attached in a post?
I tried to post a pic of a cardinal, but it cant be attached.

I'm posting 1200px on the long side. That's what was recommended to me when I asked the exact same question here

If uploading a file to web I usually set the quality to 90, long side to 1000px, quality to 90, and sharpen for screen.

My preferred method when a site accepts embedded links (like TPF) is to first upload my images to Flickr at full resolution and quality, then share image>BB code>insert in TPF post. The advantage is that readers see your full image in the post and if they click on the image it takes them to the Flickr image where they can enlarge if they want, faster load times, and it bypasses many sites algorithms that crush your image to save space.
