Sandhill Crane with my new EF 400 f/2.8

    I got to try my new lens out evening right after the UPS truck dropped it off. I can see there is going to be a learning curve with this behemoth but the first shots were not to bad. I put the 400 on my 40D and srewed in a monopod and took a stroll out back to the marsh and shot these first pics.

    What do you think for a first shake out cruise?

    Nice shots, I like the second photo best.

    They are clear, good colour... no complaints here lol.

    Very Nice!!!

    Looks like you won't be having any trouble working with that lense, 'cause those are sharp and have good colour!!

    #2 is my fav as well.

    #2 is my favorite as well. The DOF and colors your new lens provides are outstanding! I want one too! lol

    Not bad for test shots, are those cropped? Lets see some more interesting stuff with this bad boy, lol...
