I'm thinking of selling my old Film camera and buying a DSLR,
Its a Zeiss Ikon Contaflex Super and whilst i do love it dearly, it's just too expensive to keep around (What with the cost of film, the cost to develop the pictures and all that jazz)

I need a couple of things answered though befor i do sell it.

1) Where would be the best place to sell it, Has to be in the UK
2) How much could i get for it? (It has a case and a Tessar 2.8/50 Lens)
3) What would be a good DSLR to buy for beginner photographer (Not too expensive)

Thanks,

1. can't answer.
2. check out completed auctions on ebay. Private sales are generally for another 30% above that. Perhaps more.
3. Can't answer that one either. You might post that question in the digital photography section of TPF.

My first DSLR was a Canon Rebel XTi and I think that camera is the perfect place to start. Plenty of manual controls, excellent quality and an immense aftermarket support all for dirt cheap in a simple, easy-to-use, light package.

EDIT: they no longer make the XTi, but you can pick up a used XTi/XSi for dirt cheap these days (or their lower-megapixel, slightly down market XT/XS brothers even cheaper). Or go for the outgoing Rebel T1i for a great deal.
