sensor cleaning question

Ive read online that you can't just simply use a lens microfiber cloth. If you clean it you are supposed to use a sensor cleaning kit...
You should use something like Eclipse cleaning solution. Putting a dry cloth on your sensor and dragging the dust around may damage the low-pass filter by scratching it. Liquid will reduce the friction and also cause the dust to cling to the cleaning swab vs pushing it off to the side of the sensor.

...Thats what I thought and moving dry dust around can also cause scratches...I know it does on my car...so I'm pretty damn sure that it can on a dslr sensor

I didn't do any damage using a microfiber cloth, works perfectly. Sensor cleaning kits are just sales gimmicks.
That's funny. So a sterile cotton pad that's the same size as your sensor and proper cleaning fluid are "gimmicks"? All for the low price of $16?

You're kidding, right?

Microfiber cloth for $10-15. I wouldn't put any saline solution on my sensor, the microfiber cloth doesn't scratch, but cotton can !!
