...with the all of the time and money you invest into photography if you were to give up your hobby?

I'm sure most of us have spent plenty of money on equipment and spent a lot of time behind the lens and/or in the darkroom, so what would you do if that was no longer an option. Are there other interests you have that would suddenly get more attention, or would you try to find something entirely new to do? Just curious! :D

Personally, I really don't know what I would do with it all. I would probably spend more on scuba gear and try to get out diving a bit more often, but that is about all I can come up with.

Hopefully this will help us learn a little more about each other and some of our non-photography related interests!

I would use the money for more biking equipment. I would love to have a Down Hill bike. and I always need parts and equipment for biking too.

Beer & strippers... :p

Actually, I used to play a lot of golf, but was not very good and showed little improvement in the last few years...so I took that time & money and turned to photography. The last round of golf I played, I only hit a few shots that didn't suck...but I took a few pretty good photos.

mmmm, a new and better bike, that's for sure. I have a old Trek mountain bike that I've about outworn.

That, and camping and hiking gear.

Maybe I'd be able to convince my husband to buy me another horse. I haven't had one since young son came along. I've had 2 horses in my lifetime, and I've always loved riding SO much, and caring for my big old sweeties. :D

But there sure would be a void without photography, that's for sure!!

I'm with Chase, buy/spend more time on my scuba diving habbits. I love to get out and dive, but with school and work I just don't have the time anymore (like I did in High School). Now with photography, all my time is pretty much spent between Class, Customers, and Clicks (of the shutter that is)!! :D Hopefully one day I can afford a nice Nikonos underwater camera so I can combine the two things I love the most. Now theres something I could spend lots of time/money on!!!

and I'm out

Zach

Probably traveling a lot. I'm fascinated by the differences in cultures, history.

I'm the unlucky sap that got into photography because of another expensive hobby--reefkeeping. I wanted to take pictures of the stuff in my tank, and all of a sudden I wanted to take better and better pictures, and then we decided to start a family, so wanted to be able to take good artistic photos of the wife and kid (when it gets here), etc.

So if I didn't have photography, I'd probably just have another aquarium. Or a bigger savings account.

A life without photography? Let's hope THAT never happens!

Without photography I would spend more time with my 2 horses Shadow and Royal. I, like Terri, LOVE to ride. (Terri, if you ever come to So. Cal let me know and we will go riding together.) Having horses is the best therapy in the world. There is nothing like feeling of accomplishment after cleaning stalls and the sense of euphoria that a good ride will give you. I would also spend more time going dirt bike riding with my family and might actually get to finish my 10 year old hot rod project.

I'd probably be sitting on my ass in front of the internet, just like I do now, but more so! :p

Umm, well, Hmmm... I would like to get back into taking many much more yoga classes, ride my bike more... get a lot more done around the house, like getting the office and dining room painted like i've been planning for a couple months now... there's a part of me that wants to study for a CEBS certification (certified employee benefits specialist) but I can't bring myself to do it yet, since it's a big time investment, so maybe I would revisit that...

Photography has been just one of a list of expensive hobbies for me: computers, autos mechanics, remote control cars, etc. Right now, I'd probably but the money into car parts and the time into writing.

life without photography??

well i dunno. I would probably be in a recording studio recording stuff for hours. Traveling is pretty big on the agenda (I have a goal to set foot on every continent before i kark it). I would probably be heavy into the arts, painting abstracts or stuff like that.

If I were a better programmer, I would program computer games, but I don't have the patience and attention span for that anymore.

Any sort of outdoorsy stuff is just peachy with me. Ah, its autumn here now to, perfect weather.. brisk and sunny :) Tramping, skiing or just driving around a beautiful areas in my car would make me happy :)

First thing i would do is go and get my eyes calibrated so that i could use my periferal vision again instead of just looking through a viewfinder. After that i might go back and see if i still have the stamina to make B grade porno movies. ;)
