Generally you'd want to use lower ISO numbers. However, depending on the speed of your lens you may need to go to high ISO to freeze the motion. I think freezing the motion is more important than grainy picture.
That said, you may want to try low ISO along with long shutter speeds to get some art photos of the game. This will allow you to freeze the refs and spectators but blur the players - and that could be cool. You can do that since you mentioned you were going to use a tripod. Good luck!
