Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
My parents came from the UK for their first trip to NZ and I got to see a whole bunch of the south island for the first time.
My dad bought the first DSLR they've ever had for christmas, a Lumix G1.

I got to try it out and as I'm looking for a DSLR of my own, but have a long way to go before I can get one with a baby on the way, and I have to say I came away very impressed with it.

We took about 5k photos, most being just holiday snaps and a stupid amount of macro shots of just about everything...

So here is a sample of photos I particularly like, keep in mind these are all free hand (they forgot the tripod) and pretty much my first attempts at any of these kinds of photos.

Sorry for a lot of pics, but that's pretty much gonna be all the photos I get to post until I can afford my own DSLR

Edit; decided to bring this back and see if I could get a little C&C, as I might be able to get myself a good camera soon and am interested in what people think I should try to work on (took out a bunch of pics too)

Nice shots. NZ is such a photogenic country. I wish I had gone there on a photography-oriented excursion rather than with six other guys who couldn't have cared less about pictures.

Yeah it's difficult not to go somewhere in NZ and find something to take a photo of.

I was just happy to get to use a DSLR and see what I could do with it

(I know I know, thread necromancy, I figured it was less of a faux pas than re-making the thread)

Just wanted some extra thoughts seeing how I'm hoping to get a camera soon

How did you take the photo of the waterfall without the tripod?

Stood really still and took about 8 with different settings until it had the right look without too much blur.
Just a bit of luck I think, possibly knelt down too I can't remember

Really crisp photo's. I like picture #10 the most.

Yeah this is a really well known photo spot on the highway between Christchurch and Nelson/Hanmer Springs, St James walkway.
I intend (now I'm getting my own D90) to have pictures of that for every season, looks fantastic with snow
