I'm trying to get more serious about my photography instead of just being the one in the family with the good camera and being obliged to take pictures at family functions. Any input would be appreciated. This is one of the many falling down old houses that can be found on some of the back road throughout West Virginia. The lower quarter should be a bit darker, especially on the left side, I realize. I'm working on my Lightroom skills. I haven't figured out how to darker specific areas yet.

I think a little more contrast; this image seems to be composed almost entirely of mid-tones and lacks sufficient true black and white to really work. As far as local adjustments in LR, nothing could be easier. The Local Adjustment Brush is on the 'Develop' module and allows you to adjust almost all the critical exposure elements:

Select it, adjust the size of the brush (Left & right square brackets), paint the area and move sliders to suit.
