As the title of the thread suggests, this was my first attempt as I am new to photography in general.

What could I have done to improved my shots?

I'm using a Sony Cybershot DSC-H10 with the 'Sports' setting as I was not allowed to use my flash.

Too many photos to be studied there ... all I can say is that at a first glance they look pretty good, given the light situation and the circumstance. Nothing much to critisise here.
 
Post one or two images here to get more helpful critique.
 
They look great! My only comment is that they seem a bit blurry - what lens and exposure settings were you using?

EDIT: I should learn to read. Just notice you were using a P&S. In that case, you don't have too much control over aperture and certainly can't open up to something like f/1.8 or 2.2. Composition on a lot of the shots is great. I like this one in particular, as the guitarist's eyes somewhat follow the diagonal implied by the cabs.

I would crop so it isn't square though.
