Trying to stable my DSLR

Get a good tripod or monopod. It's the only sure way to keep steady.


I always sink a 48" diameter concrete pier at least 60" into the ground in lieu of a tripod. Plenty of #2 rebar in a rolled cage. Top it off with a 3/8" bolt sticking out the top for the tripod head.
 
You can try wrapping the neck strap around your wrist a few times, with the strap still behind your neck. Us the strap to pull the camera against your face.
 
Of course, you could embrace the motion blur and incorporate it into the image.
