Please pardon my naive question...

Are SD safe to store data in the long term? Compared to USB sticks, hard drives or the old fashioned compact disk do they imply a higher risk of data loss or corruption?

In the past I used hard disk drives to backup videos and pictures. I noticed that for several reasons I find it easier to leave the pictures on SD memory cards. It is much more expensive but I prefer to leave them on SD cards instead of using USB sticks or hard drives

Thanks

way too much cost.

why do you prefer SD over just dumping to a HDD?

I have the habit of discarding most of the pictures I take
I keep only very few, also being just an amateur and not a professional photographer
Provided SD cards are very cheap now you can get 128 Gb Samsung Evo plus for 27 euros here the price is relatively affordable

It's easier for me to store them and to carry them, considering that if I bring them somewhere mostly I bring only one or two SD cards

SD card or flash memory are not good for long term storage. HD is better. But you still need to find a way to back them up.
