Which is better

Would really like some opinions on which photo is the better (not saying either is good!) and any criticism is very much appreciated too.

I really prefer the colors in the second, but the first has an interesting ominous feel to it, if that's what you are looking for. Is your horizon level - it's hard for me to tell but it looks a tad off.

By far the 2nd is better. Better light and colors, and it also appears sharper. In the first one it seems to be more about the waves then the surfer, but in the 2nd the accent is more on the surfer, and it's a really nice capture!

1st one. I think the 1st one has more dramatic effect, with the dark sky and rough waves. ;-)

It really shows the scale of the wave in respect to the surfer.

The second one seems to stand out more for me, especially due to the more vibrant colors and contrast.

I also like the flow of his arms in the second photo.
