Yes, people still pay for programs. People still pay for photographs too, novel concept isn't it? I guess some are a little less reserved about piracy than others.

I've been on CS5 since its release and now with Creative Cloud I may finally start paying. I never did before because I was your typical slacker college student.

It was a lot of playing with it, watching Youtube videos, and reading, then more reading with the program open. Find what works for you. There are the maga-books at the big book stores or the Idiot's Guides, Missing Manual, and a lot more out there. Look through them and find the one that fits you.
