One of my favourite images of the year so far

Two female mallards resting at sunset at the lakeshore.

This is my first picture post since about 2005 :chuncky:

There is a small lake near where I live, which is home to a ducks, Canada Goose and American White Pelicans. This is a duck taking a break after a swim. D810 500mm ISO400 1/800sec f/7.1 - tripod was my knee as I sat in the grass.

I don't typically photograph animals, but while walking the local lake I got a few frames that caught my attention. A bit of a far cry from photographing for publications, events, and people. Thoughts?
