Bend the Light.. anything over 105 is often a call for professional treatment... watch the little one closely. If it hits 106.. I highly recommend Emergency care!

WHY do some of these people who think they are ready to be PRO Photographers seem to have such thin skin when someone suggests--okay, states outright--that they are NOT ready??
I just don't get that.

If I'm claiming to be a PROFESSIONAL, in almost any field, seems like I should be confident enough to take some heat about whether my skills are up to par or not.

But that's just me...

maybe it is how I phrase things? And I was trying to be gentle! :)

You're just BLUNT sometimes, and some people, I guess, mistake that for rude.
But your directness is actually one of the things I rather like about you. No one has to wonder what you *really* mean.

I can be rude.. but usually only in response to rudeness! I am sarcastic at times.. and that can be bad! But thank you.. I appreciate your comment! :)

Wait...sarcasm can be bad?!?!? Say it ain't so...
Perhaps it is just my extreme fondness of sarcasm that makes me appreciate your comments, then...

It's because their friends and family tell them they take great photos, they should do this for money, etc. So, when they submit for their first real C&C, they find out that their photos are not as great as they thought and they get their feelings hurt.

I took my first formal photo class a couple years ago. I took in a "portfolio" (aka a photo album) and showed it to the instructor. She is a free-lance photographer, published several times in the Washington Post - not a full-time professor. I was devastated when she was done. But, I listened and tried to learn from the experience. Earlier this week, I asked her to look at my son's portfolio so he can get an objective, non-academic review.

I'm still no pro, and do not aspire to be one, but I do the best I can and hope to achieve those kind of results.

It's also because the culture now tells children that they are all equally special and they can do no wrong. They is no such thing as 'constructive' criticism anymore, just criticism. That is no way to learn, only to stay mediocre.

3 year old with 105.6* F temperature. :(
Poor baby...

Ouch.. that is very high... under professional care?

Unfortunately for my little one, annie, these things are common. she has the ability to get chest infections at the drop of a hat.
We have on occasion had to take her in to the hospital...one time under blues-and-twos. But tonight it's administer paracetamol, and then ibuprofen, and check the temperature and watch out for febrile convulsions. she's never quite got that far yet...not much sleep for us tonight - watching annie all the while.

AMEN; preach on, sister!! Lord, don't EVEN get me started on this "you're all special" philosophy we've got going on in our schools today...

I have read your posts and I respect your opinions, as well as many others here. When all of the replies tell the OP that there are problems and she shouldn't jump in, that should be a signal to her.
