So I'm looking for a new lens. I've been searching around and these so far have appealed to me. I'm just not totally sure what conditions they would be best suited for so I would highly appreciate if you could please help. Biggest differences? Pros and Cons?

Thanks a bunch fellas!!

They are both walking around lenses but I would go with the 2nd one presonally. But you have to remember these lenses can only work on crop sensor camera. If you ever upgrade your camera to a 5D, it wont work.

For that much though I rather find a used 24-70mm f/2.8L

WHOA, first and foremost Id recommend you find a different seller if you could... Amazon has both of these lenses listed at $200 USD below what this Henrys is offering... and if youre considering the 15-85 at that price Id have to say check out the 17-55 2.8 IS.

The second lens has a slightly wider angle (15mm vs. 18mm), less telephoto reach (85mm vs. 135mm), an ultra-sonic motor (for faster and quieter focusing) and better image quality. Of those two, I would definitely choose the 15-85mm lens.

Another combination to consider would be the Tamron Di-II 17-50mm f/2.8 or the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM for wide to normal subjects with the EF-S 55-250mm f/4.5-5.6 IS or the EF 70-200mm f/4L USM for telephoto.

From 18 to 85 mm they would be pretty much the same. The 135 mm lens will give magnification beyond 85mm (more reach) and the 15mm will give a little less magnification than 18 mm (wider view).

The 15-85 mm lens has a maximum aperture of f/5.6 at 85mm while the 135 mm lens would be about f/4.8 at 85 mm. The same happens on the other end of the zoom range, but in reverse.
