Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Well, today, it was windy and cold as heck!

But since we are leaving this place soon i begged my mom to drive me to a place to take some pictures ( I have no way of transportation for myself, sadly not old enough for my license yet xD ) So while my mom sat nice and cozy in the car, I stood on the observation deck of a bridge and snapped away for about 45 minutes
Im having a bit of trouble with landscape pictures as it seems
Also I dont know if it was stupid to put these in black and white, but I was browsing through some ansel adams photography, and it put me in a black and white mood
So please tell me what you think, all comments welcome : )
Thanks!

I would pop up the contrast and black a little bit.

If you have a tripod - put your camera on it and play around with the shutter speed. If you slow it down a bit you can see the water flow a bit smoother making a nice looking shot.

Here is a thread that gives more details.....so if the water is flowing really fast and you slow your shutter speed - you'll get that look along with the nice landscape.

I was using a tripod
The thing was it was around 1:00 and if i put my shutter too low the snow looked extremely overexposed, and was really unattractive.
Also after reading the thread, i need to buy a filter!
Haha
Thanks so much! I never really thought of doing that with water
Also the picture on the thread looks magnificent!
Thanks!

This is probably going to sound terribly stupid
But how do you add black ?
After looking around online and asking on forums, I just set it to greyscale on gimp
Could you maybe give me a pointer on how to add black? : )
Thanks!

I don't think this really works as a black and white....not a whole lot of tonal variation going on so it looks just too flat. Probably would have been best to stay with color. But don't feel bad, Ansel took years to get his method down.

I have to disagree. I think the black and white works well here. I read somewhere that if there isnt a lot of color, than you should go B&W. I know rules are meant to be broken and thats not true always, but I've found that its a good rule to go by. Because if these were in color, would there really be much "pop?"
Good composition and keep working at it!

I mean i can understand where newhampshire is coming from
But your right,
The picture wasnt so exciting in color
It seemed a little more blah regularly
I really realllyyyy hope to get back tomorrow, where maybe it wont be as cloudy, and just get a new perspective on it
Thankyou all for your critiques!
Always appreciated :)

You can help the image some with increase contrast like this, but there just aren't that many color variations to work with.

But it still seems a bit lacking. The river leads my eye into the center of the photograph, but then there's not really anything to look at in the center (the house is too tiny to really be a focus).

In the 2nd photograph, I think finding a day with a different sky could definitely help since there are such large expanses of sky.

Are you asking how to add black through a photo editor like Photoshop? Or through your camera while taking pictures?
