While vacationing in St Pete I captured a few sunsets that I would your thoughts on.

#1.

#2

#3.

I like #3 the best...nice silhouette, nice detail on the sand and water. Might want to clean up the horizon line though.. that boat (or whatever is out there) draws the eye. Maybe a real mild saturation increase on the sky would look nice. kill that highlight in the lower right hand corner...

#2 ...nice... but no foreground detail.. and the silhouette figure looks odd.... spazzy. sun is too blown out.

#1 is ok.. just nothing special, and that large wave pulls you away from the sunset...

Too much space for the little things that's going on in #1. Less is more. KISS principle might apply.

I made the suggested changes to #3. See what you think.

Nice images, but I do agree with what others have said, however, I have one question/comment - when I shoot sunsets, I will take the shots as you have and try to get the sun behind some clouds, if possible, to avoid it being blown out, also I will wait until the sun is just below the horizon because I often find that I get more play of colours in the clouds just after sunset. Have you tried this with any good success. Also, have you thought about using HDR for sunset images across the ocean, I did some on a holiday at Naples last year and had some great success, at least in my opinion...

Cheers,

Nice, appears the hue is off or such. Could be my monitor too though.
