Well, I finally bought a DSLR, and these are the results of today's outing (I got the camera yesterday). Tell me what you think, like, dislike, etc! All were shot in 'manual,' and nothing was photoshopped; they were pulled off of the camera, then re-sized. #1 -More of a snapshot, trying to balance direct sunlight + a dark shadow. #2 -New Social Sciences Building on campus (UVic) #3 - Contains Profanity -Back of a seat on the bus ride home. #4 -On the bus again, didn't come out as clear as I wanted :[ Thanks guys!
I like! 1 and 2, anyway. Good exposures and composition. Taken with a digital, right? I can tell.:er:
I think you did a decent job with the shadows, HDR works really well for dealing with that even better.
Somehow 3 and 4 don't have the "artsy" feel that I would have expected. I like the composition on number 1. Keep it up!
Maybe try cropping out the foreground shadow in photo 1. Try doing a more close-up shot with photo 2, or go wide-angle. Good depth of field in photo 3. Photo 4 didn't do anything for me. Enjoy your new dslr!
