You also have to remember that before any word of the 50D was heard the 40D was selling at around 1400 CDN. the only reason the price is so low now is because they dont make them anymore and are trying to get rid of them to make way for the 50D.

Ive had experience with the XTi (predecessor of the XSi) and the way the image sensor handles noise on the 40D is far superior to that. you cant just look at flat specs when evaluating cameras.

and as JeremyLim said the second wheel on the 40D is a big advantage in terms of ergonomics.
