I thought most of them were just kind of "ok"... poses felt a little odd, probably a bit too much "extra stuff" in the frames.. #6 was pretty good, but #1 struck me as "oh my god wow". It's a LITTLE washed out and a little tight on the crop, but I really liked it overall. I might work on it a bit go give it a bit more pop, but overall if that were my daughter, I'd be very excited about that shot.

Like, perhaps this...

A bit of a curves adjustment, slight vibrance/saturation push, and just a bit of sharpening to make the eyes pop.

MY advice is to ease up on the Dutch tilt a bit. And think about how to best use the majority of the compositional space. 1,2,3,5,6,7 all have a ton of wasted space.

Actually, I think the eyes are slightly overdone.

I agree that I need a composition lesson! Any recommendations?

Manaheim, I think that makes the photo look way too over-processed. For my style anyway. Thank you about number 1. I love that one too and I'm such a huge fan of the tight crop too. I know a lot of people don't like it but I llooovvee it!!

You think its overdone? I think you overprocessed her eyes already. She looks like a vampire. Maybe a bit less sharpening and highlighting. Other than that I like that shot. The others have a funny composition to me.

#1 The black hair ribbon seems to be the most important thing in the photo. This poor child has no color, so you should do what you can to improve the contrast in the photograph.

#2 & #3 leaves in front of the subject

I think the tilt was supposed to be "artistic", but here it is forced, therefore just tilted. The model seems very coachable, so keep it up.

She looks like a vampire? :( Sometimes it's hard to take criticism like that when you're close to the child. She's actually very beautiful and the light was perfect hitting right at her eyes which is why they're so bright.

Getting too attached to the subject will cloud your judgement and reduce the value of an opportunity to learn. In short... don't get defensive of the work or the child.

and btw... experience tells me that her eyes in your rendition are little muddied. My sharpening pass may have been too much (partly because I was working off a low-res image so it was hard to "go easy on it"), but your version appears to need at least a touch to make them pop. Try it a bit and see what you come up with.

Werewolf, lol

I think your first photo was really strong then it all went down hill. The odd angles are not doing much here. but more importantly you lost the feel that the first shot had. That first was is gold. The rest look like MWAC shots.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I totally agree I need a composite lesson! Again, if anyone has done an online composite tutorial or have any recommendations I would love that!

I know getting close to the subject can cloud good judgement but it's still hard to hear. lol. Maybe instead of saying she looks like a vampire, saying constructive/nice criticism like my post processing made her eyes look to over-done, etc. Although, I know it's hard for some people to be nice on here, I do understand that when I ask for CC, I will get comments like that. Just part of being on a forum. Still, hard to hear though :)

I re-edited all of them and fixed the odd angles! Thanks for that feedback! Sometimes I try to get creative and it comes out looking odd like that.

I really do appreciate all the feedback! It really helps me!

1. Any better?

Also, here is SOOC if anyone wants to take a shot at it!!!
