I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the affects are of attaching a .5x wide angle lens to another lens, lets say my canon 50mm f1.8 II. Besides the fact that it makes it a 25mm lens, are there any other affects that it has on the lens? For example does it change the aperature or the sharpness or anything? Thanks:wink:

It will certainly affect the quality of the image. The light now has to pass through and be affected by the 'filter/adaptor'...which probably isn't made for as high a quality as the 50mm lens is. It will probably introduce a lot of distortion and the corners especially will probably be much softer than if you had used a 24mm lens.

These things are made primarily for 'digi-cams' that have built-in lenses...and therefore can't go any wider than they are made to. If you have an SLR, a big advantage is that you can take off the 50mm lens and put on a 24mm lens.
