I LOVE Christmas, the gifts, the giving, the food, and even the family that annoys the crap out of you. I couldn't imagine it being any different!!!

Try harder

Im not too into christmas anymore. What Im used to is christmas in the sun, bbq's at the beach, campin and waking up and going for a swim in the deep blue ocean, so adjusting to a foot of snow at my door and spending the holidays inside isnt exactly the bees knees to me. In 4 years of christmas in the US, it really makes me realise how far away I am from my family. Christmas is usually only my fiance and I, so we try to make it the best it can be but I could go for a nice christmas with good friends and family

xmas hasnt been the same since i was 16 my grandfather burned to death behind my grandmothers house 2 days before xmas...that year xmas was at a funeral home eversince then we dont get together for xmas - such a dark time i
have a 18month daughter who i am playing xmas to but after that i have and want nothing to do with it
soory i know this is dark but i genreally hate it b/c everybody is happy and buying crap that doesnt matter and all i have are these memories

It really means a lot to me, but because of some money hungry pigs that just HAVE to be open on Christmas, I have to spend the time away from him :(.

I always wonder about that when I see those big signs declaring "Open Christmas" or "Open Thanksgiving." I wonder about the poor people that have to be there so that business will be open on that day. I'm sorry that this has happened to you. I'm afraid that it is just going to go more and more this way.

:soapbox: I remember back when I was growing up that NOTHING would be open on Thanksgiving or Christmas or even New Year's Day. And when I say nothing I mean nothing. No restuarants, no gas stations, NOTHING. Time's change.

I usually love Christmas (it's my favorite holiday and time of year) but I just don't seem to be into it this year. Even getting a tree was a chore this time around. Honestly, if it wasn't for my kids, I wouldn't have gotten one at all and I am even WAY behind in my shopping. Even that has been minimal at best... Just a few nice things for special people in my lives. I haven't even shopped for the parental units yet.

Calgon, take me away.

I haven't done any Christmas shopping for anyone yet - and I'm working on Christmas eve. Think I'll just spend Sat & Sun in bed cuz it's back to work Mon. Hey ho!
(I buy friends prezzies at random times just because and my kids have already memorised my credit card number so they sorted themselves out via Amazon ;-) )

I was in the mood for about a week. And I think I was too excited plus I got in a fight with my parents over a Christmas related theme two days ago that I'm JUSt starting to actually get over. I trapped myself in my bedroom yesterday. *sigh* Even when I go to church and open presents and give them, it just won't be the same, or feel the same as when I was a child. Adulthood ruins everything >< But it's Christmas. Tis the season to put up a happy front!

I don't like chritmas... I mean I don't like spending it with the whole family, there are many people I don't like, and, I even don't want to spend the time woth them, but for the time beinf - I have to. Here in Poland the whole christmas (starts with christmas eve) take place at the table so people are eating all the time. When my neighbours went to France last year and were celebrating x-mas far from home, all neighbours wee shocked, except me. I'd like to go somewhere too, coz I'm very tired after christmas. ALthough you don't hear any offensive txts to you but the atmospheare isn't ok

Four years ago we were waiting for the funeral home to come pick up my Dad on Christmas Eve. The only reason I play along with the whole christmas thing now is that I have a four year old daughter.

I'm sorry for both of your losses at such a hard time of year. My Dad lost his Mom on 12/23 (over 40 years ago) and it's still hard.

Your welcome to come here, I get to spend christmas alone (technically the fourth year running because I typically volunteer to work on X-mas so the family guys can stay home) but this year they are closing up shop. So I'm alone and not getting paid for it. On the good side my ex is flying back in January for a weekend. That will be cool.
