Well, there certainly has been a lot of useful information. Thanks for all the suggestions.

Though a bit complex for the beginner, we all have to start somewhere once a simple desaturation and exposer adjustment is not enough.

Hmm, I was curious on other Apps so I tried to reproduce the edited image that I posted using something other than Lightroom.
I tried GIMP, Darktable, and RawTherapee ... (all free) ... and had a difficult time to do what LR did, actually I couldn't reproduce it in the 15min that I played around with each App. Probably given enough time I could figure it out, but I will have to give some credit to the pay-to-play Adobe products (I would rather have Open Source).
