My wife and I went for a walk at a local forest and ran across this little guy as he was laying across the trail we were on. I know it is probably not perfect but this was one first time photographing one of these that wasn't behind glass.

We ran across this a little further down as we stop to take a rest

I'll give u a bump. I like the first one. I would have liked it even more had the snake been horizontal in the frame. Kinda distracting to have to turn your head to the side but I understand not being able to get the angle with it not being behing glass lol....The second one is good as well, but there's something abt it that my novice eye can't see lol....anyone have anything else?

I'm posting from my phone so I can't say for sure, but it looks like the focus fell JUST short of the head in #1. His head also ended up in a slightly more shaded area of the photo so it's a bit dark, but otherwise I think you did a nice job here; the angle implies motion which brings some tension to it.

#2 is beautiful. :)

Well I might have to go visit my nephew and practice this using his Python and his 4-5 foot Anaconda

very nice picture of a snake :) slightly bigger DOF :)

I agree as I forgot to double check my settings, well cause my wife wasn't paying attention and about stepped on it's head, luckily we believe it was just a Black Rat Snake. Here is another where I wish I had got more of it in focus.

And one just showing the size of the snake eventhough I still didn't get all of it in the pic ( no C&C needed unless you want )

Nice...I have 2 ball pythons you can borrow for photos...One is fat and about 3 feet long, the other is close to 3 feet, but skinnier (he's younger)
