I have watched with interest Emily's club shooting & thought I would like to try it someday. Last night I got my chance. We went out to dinner & then to the cultural center to watch a show with four folk singer/songwriters.

I mounted a Minolta 50/1.4 on my wife's GF1 which she only uses on full auto & jpeg. I switched it to aperiture priority & set the lens to f2.0. About 2/3 through the evening I realized I was shooting in jpeg & then switched to RAW. I was advised that flash was frowned upon so I had to shoot with available light. At first I was shooting @ ISO 400 but all I got were blurred images so I reluctantly upped the ISO to 800.

So here is my first attempt at shooting "in the dark".

I took my wife's camera because my pop-up flash quit but if I can't use flash I will use my camera the next time.

White balance if off on the first shot. Mom's hair looks to blue / green.

I like the second one best out of the bunch. Were these cropped? If not, you must have been close to them with a 50mm.

I'm glad I was able to inspire you :sillysmi:

I would have to say that the second one is my favorite as well.

You just have to work a little more on your focus and you'll be golden. :sillysmi:

Mark, I played with the WB in #1 but could not get it right in LR, maybe because it was a jpeg. We had a front row table & there is cropping on most if not all shots.

Emily, I was using a manual focus lens & am reasonably confident the focus was on but I was suffering from motion blur as the subjects were quite active. The best shutter speed I obtained was 1/50s.

The fellow in shot #2 had the best light of the lot. I did a test shot of the stage before they started @ ISO 400 & was cheered by the result. However, as soon as the main man (#7) came on stage to introduce everyone he asked the light man to reduce the lights as he likes to see the audience - my heart sank. The brightest light in the room seemed to be coming from my camera screen. :grumpy:

BTW, I get inspiration from many folks here.
