A Fruity Experiment

Okay, so some of you may recall the Ugli Fruit. Well, it finally ripened and I peeled it and took some photos.

Anyway, I had brought an image into PS and I accidently hit Command I (the shortcut for invert). The inverted version intrigued me and I started playing with the idea. The Ugli Fruit is blue when it's inverted, but some of these I inverted and then converted to B&W and also did some other painting things.

Your experiments reminded me of an experiment I did using the gradient map tool in Photoshop on the traditional "backlighted orange slice shot on plexiglas"...

So the name says ... it's actually quite cute after it is peeled.





I didn't do all inversions of the ugli. I played with backgrounds and some just didn't work inverted. They looked better in regular color or B&W. As a set, though, I preferred the inverts, lol.

Where I live, I can only get them during certain seasons. Last month they were in, usually sometime in March or April, and once or twice during the summer. Fortunately, my small town has one nice grocery store that offers some exotic produce. They are quite tasty-- a combo of orange, grapefruit, and tangerine. I would try a market that offers more exotic types of produce.
