I like the composition. Did you desaturate the colour? The girl's skin doesn't appear natural, as if it is sepia or something. Maybe it's my eyes.

I desaturated and bumped the vibrance just a bit. Also, cooled slightly IIRC. That treatment doesn't work for everyone but I like it in certain instances.

I'm not sure the desaturation works so well, but that's just my opinion.

You might also try a reflector from a lower angle to try to reduce some of the shadows on the girl's face, etc. A ceiling light seems to have cast some shadows under her eyes and nose. I'd also like to see more smile or other expression. She's very cute!

Thanks. It would be nice to have a reflector on hand for those spontaneous moments but with my kids I haven't figured out how to make that work yet. :wink:

Her expression is actually what makes this shot work for me. I love a smile as much as the next guy, but I find the more introspective facial expressions more interesting.

This photo leaves me positively surprised, I must say, and I find your treatment a success here. Often enough, I am not too fond of very bright children's photos, but here both brightness and mild desaturation seem to work. Her eyes and moment of introspective show well this way!

De saturation must be in at the moment, some like it some don't its a personal taste thing. Its just that I keep looking out the windows. If you could bring those down a notch It would be a nice candid shot.
Not saying it isn't now, just my 2 cents worth.

Desaturated and contrast to the mid tones with a very very cool tone is the current fad in "high fashion" photography.

Nice capture

I wish you could have gotten the whole (bottom) slipper in the shot but we take what we can get when it comes to toddlers. I would prefer a clean/natural looking edit but nice shot regardless.
