Went to a nearby wildlife refuge this afternoon to check on a great horned owl's nest... mom was still sitting, and refused to show herself. Got some creepers and wrens and butterbutts, then stopped at Hawks Prairie on the way home. Jackpot! Found a most cooperative male gold-crowned kinglet that posed for me about 25 feet away, in the open, in great light, and gave me a good 2-3 minutes in the same place! Nemesis bird no more! ;)

Very nice set. We have the ruby-crowned in our end and they are a PITA to photograph. Smaller than a chickadee and not able to sit still for second, constantly moving. Well done.

Amazing shots as well as details.
Thank you!

Those all are absolutely beautiful. The background blends perfectly.
Thanks, Dean! I really lucked out with the setting...

Thanks, Brent. The gold-crowns prefer coniferous habitat, so if you live where it's mostly deciduous, you may not see them.

Wonderful!
Thanks, Brian!
