A goose bit me!

and while I've been bitten by geese before, this &#%%! drew blood! He bit my thumb, and i guess his little goose teeth got into my cuticle, and it started bleeding - a lot! Went home, washed it off with soap and alcohol, and still the blood. I have a band-aid on it now, which has turned mostly red.

Stupid goose... I better not get no Goose Flu.

Yeah, they can be pretty mean... If you have some deodorant try wiping that on it, most deodorants have some sort of alum in them that kill bacteria and help the healing process, either that or a good old styptic pencil.

Geese that are around people a lot loose basically any fear, I have tons of photos of geese from less than 2 feet away - they'd eat out of my hand if I had food.

Or polysporin? Man, I have a couple tubes of that stuff. And how I love it. Deodorant isn't the best idea because it also usually (i.e. almost always) contains a rather nasty chemical called aluminum zirconium trichlorohydrex. In short, it's not a very nice thing to be getting into your bloodstream. A topical antibiotic is probably the best way to go; if it has an anesthetic all the better (anything that contains lidocaine, usually in the form of lidocaine hydrochloride).

And to Yemme: I've shot geese at around 35mm. How's that for crazy?

Around here, geese are everywhere. He bit my thumb as I was feeding him (yes, they will take it from your hands -- sometimes without your permission ) People often feed them and the ducks, so they just get used to it. When they see someone walking up with a bag, they swarm and expect food.

Here is a pic I took last year. I blurred the kids face because he was just some strangers kid that was feeding the geese (am sure the tattoo was fake), but you can easily see how it is. if you have food, you sometimes literally have to move them out of your way with your feet.

See, I wouldn't feed a flock like that. It's called throwing .... yes... from afar. The only thing I've ever fed from my hands was a goat at the kids petting zoo and that was from a fence.

I was so happy that I had my CP on my lens when I was taking pix of ostriches one day. The damn bird pecked and scratched the filter. It was nowhere near as expensive to replace as the lens would have been.
