Took this picture with an old Nikon 135 mm lens. It is a lens that the angry photographer recommends.

This is the lens that the Angry photography said that everyone should own. It is not an easy lens to use. It has a small field of view. Have heard people say it's a head shot lens only. Was manually focusing the whole time in the park. Most of the duck and goose pictures did not turn out. But I thought maybe this picture was acceptable. Not sure what the orange color is in the water. Perhaps it could be the sun. 135mm Ai f 2.8 Q lens

You haven't said what exact model of lens.

Yes, manual focusing can be tricky, especially with a thin DOF.

Being able to use the older "D" lenses is the main reason I upgraded my camera to a mid-level model with a focusing motor in the body.

The orange color on the water may have been the reflection of an overhead tree branch.

I have an old Pentax FA135 f2.8 that is excellent in some situations. Manual focus can present challenges with today's DSLR cameras without a split prism. I avoid this lens when there's much movement on the subject. The best scenario with the manual focus is to use a tripod and back screen. That way I can enlarge the focal point 16x to fine tune the focus. If I have to use the view finder I set the camera to beep when focus peaks, get it close, then use a slight rocking motion to catch the focal point in focus.

As above comment, orange color is likely a reflection.

Hi Smoke, will take your advice on focusing with the back screen.
