a question about filters

Is it ok to keep the circular polarizer filter on all the time...its suppose to "improve" the overall color saturation. Im a little lost.

i do unless im in a situation where i have limited light
the polarizer does bump up colors, but it also makes the whole scene darker (sunglasses are made out of the stuff), so if you dont have enough light then take it off, but if you have enough light, or too much, feel free to keep it on

thanks..so whats the purpose of the ultaviolet filter?

Well they get rid of the blue haze you see in some photos, more prevalent in landscapes, but mainly it's for protection. I have one on all of the time.

So long as you have enough light, it's worth keeping a polarizer on. However, it reduces the amount of light by one stop, which is the same as halving the shutter speed or dividing the aperture by 1.4 (e.g. an f/4 lens to f/5.6). An ultravoilet filter helps to get rid of "haze" in far-away landscape photos, but it's mostly just for cheap protection.

I only leave a CPL on if the situation demands it. Most of the time it doesn't and I use a UV for protection instead.
