A Question About Lights

I know some people have used those work lights as lighting.. and i see them used in skateboard photography a lot.. a question about them though... arent they a different color than your flash??? if they are, arent they going to throw of the lighting in the pictures due to light sources having different colors....

any info would be great, as I have a work light here, and if there is a way i can be using it i figure why not..

If you have it play around with it. What is it going to hurt? Depending on what you are doing with it you may or may not need to use the flash with that light.
