The background is very distracting. Looks like a snapshot to me. I think it would have worked better from a different angle.

Is it just the background that gives you the impression it is just a snapshot? What part of it is distracting to you?

What angle would you have tried?

i'm not nuts about the direct flash too. I think a better angle might've been a much closer shot around 45 degrees to the side... if you can picture that.

Hm. I think this is about as close as I could have gotten with the particular camera I used-- if you push it it starts to whine and quality really drops. I'll try some closer shots with my new camera when I get a chance. As far as the angle, do you mean pretty much directly in front of the flower?
