There are many lens that were made during the film period that don't fit into the Nikon, Canon, or Pentax categories. Many were M42 and M37 mounts which aren't made anymore, so where do we talk about them at. Member here that use film cameras my use M42 mounted lens without a section to ask questions about them like the other areas on this forum. I myself have several M42 lens, the only other place is the MFL forum and those guys aren't as fun and cool as members here. Please think about adding a lens section in with the film forum in the future.

Hi Hunt - sorry, I didn't see your thread til now. :) You raise a fair point, but unfortunately because of the more limited audience for these great old lenses, it's unlikely there will be another subforum added. We try very hard to have a general topic range, but can't address every possible scenario.

You do have a couple of options, however. You can always post in the Film Q&A forum and put the lens model in your subject. You're very likely to get a lot of hits there. You could also try the Collector's Corner; that forum doesn't have to be exclusively about camera bodies. Or post in the Medium Format subforum, depending on lens type. Generally, the intent of that entire section is to cover all aspects of film photography, but you will have to get creative when posting about some things. Hope this helps somewhat.

Now that there is a Mirrorless Forum, more people might be interested in discussing legacy lenses. There are MANY adapters for using legacy lenses on mirrorless cameras.

I have 2~3 hundred lenses, between RF and SLR lenses. Most can be used on mirrorless cameras. Some are fairly rare, some are custom conversions. It's amazing how the interest -and prices- of legacy lenses have gone up in the last few years. The days of $100 Summicrons are over.
