A Special 6th Birthday - Need your help. :)

My wife passed this info on to me. A friend of hers (on facebook, via a group for parents of "special" children) has a little lad called Zak who's life expectancy at birth was, well, nil. He is now 6 years old (nearly) and the mum is wanting a special birthday for him by trying to get as many card for his birthday from all over the world. I thought it was a lovely idea, and so posting here to see if anyone would be willing to put a stamp on a birthday card for Zak and send it to him?

If you will, then take a look at this link to the facebook page...the top post shows the address to send the cards to. The address is a supplier of Special needs toys etc., who has agreed to act as "Post Office" for Zak. You can read more about Zak on that page.

I am one of many who is just sharing this to try and give them a great day. I think this is as much about the family, the lad's mum, as they have achieved so much in Zak's 6 years.

And the good thing about being on a forum like this is that we are multinational....the whole idea behind this idea.

So thanks again...and your cards will be well received.

I have some dear family friends whose son is named Zach Hall, so maybe I'll also see if THEIR Zach (who is an adult now) will send this Zak a card.

Just to be sure, this child is the child of a friend, of your wife's? You're not simplifying the chain for clarity?

I only ask because sometimes these things develop a life of their own, and some bereaved family is still getting cards ten years later or -- more happily -- some "kid" who is now in his twenties and working for NASA keeps getting cards, largely because perfectly nice people post things like this out on in the internet.

As long as it's known to be current, it's an awesome idea, though!

thanks for this.

It is the child of my wife's friend. It is current, yes. He really is 5 and a few months and is 6 soon.

his birthday is April, so a little time yet, but posted early enough so that cards have time to be sent.

The place that is receiving the cards is a company who sells special needs equipment, and they will be collecting the cards to give to the lad on his birthday. Don't worry about the family receiving sacks of mail through the letterbox.
