Though I live in the deep South of India, a good 1500 miles from Tibet, there were several Tibetans who came to India as refugees, along with the Dalai Lama, during the 1965 Indo-China war and were given land and aid at a place about 100 miles from where I live. Drove down there to visit the monastery. The route is very scenic and presents plenty of photo opportunities. Took a different route back home, driving through a reserve forest. Sadly, spotted just one jungle fowl & a lone elephant. Sharing some pictures. Some are of people. Please excuse that, as this may not be the right section for people pictures.

Good set @Rebellious & thanks for sharing. :icon_salut: The jungle fowl in the reserve forest, is this a domestic rooster turned wild or is this a certain species native to India? Also, and I don't know why I was thinking this, but I was under the impression that monks didn't wear jewelry. I see the two in your photo were wearing watches.

Some very interesting shots............
Thank you

Thank you. Junglefowl are the four living species of bird from the genus Gallus in the bird order Galliformes, which occur in India, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia. These are large birds, with colourful male plumage, but are nevertheless difficult to see in the dense vegetation they inhabit.

As for the monks, I thought so too. It was saddening to see most monks busy with their smartphones :)
