Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 3 today and Adobe was at the launch event and also showed a (quick) preview of a touch-capable version of Photoshop. Here's a link to an on-demand video, the Adobe exec starts speaking at about the 32:15 mark and only lasts for 3 minutes: On-demand Webcast: Microsoft Surface Event

He said the update would be delivered to CC subscribers via an update in the not too distant future. I'm assuming that the update will give PS an optional "touch mode", kinda like how Office 2013 has a touch mode that makes the buttons larger and also enables gestures and multi touch support. I really hope Adobe is working on native LR touch support as well, as being able to cull right in LR via touch on my Surface would be much more valuable to me than touch support in PS.

Touch was supposed to be the next big thing for home computing. At least all the screen manufacturers convinced themselves that was to be the case. And it was an utter disaster (as Win 8 showed).

Touch never came to home computing because - lets be honest - our screens are WAY out at arms length away from us. No one wants to hold their arm that far extended for long periods of time. Plus those who use photoshop and don't want a mouse already use the drawing pads which don't require them to use a simpler or larger interface design.

I suspect it will work well on mobile tablets, but only as quick editing solution and likely not all that serious.

While I can appreciate the event shooters and casual shooters seeing a need for this, I personally can't see myself using this feature anytime soon. I guess if you wanted to use your Surface tablet like a Wacom Cintiq it could be useful that way too. Personally though, I like to keep my images on my desktop machine and do my editing there.
