Algonquin Natural Gas Pipeline

This project documents sections of the 1,120-mile Algonquin natural gas pipeline in the northeast region of the United States. Beginning in southern New Jersey, it moves north through New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and ends in Boston, Massachusetts. The pipeline makes its way across highways, neighborhoods, state parks, and waterways.

It's an interesting project, but I'm not convinced that you've hit it as well as you could have. The photos all kind of look the same, or at any rate all fall into one of three or four types. With one exception, the photos seem to have been taken in the same season, and could have been shot in one day.

If you want to make a political statement, you should be making more of a statement about the impact of the pipeline (positive or negative). Does it pass by a hospital? Does it pass over water supplies? Does it create and support jobs?

If you simply want to document it, I think you need a broader range of images, to give us the sense of the extent of the pipeline. You can shoot it across multiple seasons and multiple weather conditions, show us a stretch across to time to stand in for the physical length and scale of the thing. Or at least show us different types of landscapes, or show us a longer stretch of the little posts and vents and other artifacts of the thing. Perhaps a collage of 10 or 20 photographs of the little plastic posts, in 10 or 20 clearly different locations to make a single image give us a sense of the extent of the thing.
