Almost got my camera stolen...from my hand!

Just as an added note.. Make sure you have your camera and gear insured. That way if they do actually manage to take off with your camera you at least can get it replaced without paying.

Better to lose your camera than your life.

The thing I would be concerned about is losing the photos inside. One strategy might be having multiple memory cards / film cannisters so that if your camera is stolen you'll still have most of the images.

this is why i think there should be a lockout code on cameras. so that if you're being mugged/stolen from etc. you can press some sort of panic button that will automatically lock all the camera's functions (including lens removal!) until the pass code has beet entered. that way if stolen your camera can't be used.

hehe i like the lockout idea :D Im always paranoid of some chav comeing up and nabbing my camera....... it would kill me......i would chase him down till the sun set!

Lockout idea sounds interesting but think how much it would add to the manufacturing cost of a camera. I know that if I get a decent camera there's no way in hell I'm taking it out on the streets of Glasgow at night.

maybe it could be something simple like some sort of key that you could insert that would activate it. but it'd have to be easy to pull out if someone tried to nab your goods from your hand.

My father used to use a diaper bag as his camera bag. It had a lot of little compartments and pockets that worked real well for him. No one wanted to take a chance of grabbing a bag with dirty diapers in it I guess cause he rode the NY subway with it every day and never had anyone look twice at it.
