The weather hasn't been fantastic in my part of Wales but we have been spared (touches wood) the severe flooding that other parts of the country have suffered.

I took a stroll down to the beach with my camera and my new CZ 35mm lens to put it through its paces out and about:

Looking towards the harbour across the sand:

Along the front there are a few art sculptures funded by local government. I call this one, The Squiggle

On my way back I walked along the sand and caught site of someone's sand drawing of a plane

On pic three, the art piece, I would have loved to see something done with it with nothing in the background, to me it takes away from it. crop up parts for abstract, or better yet, get close to it and on the ground shooting up, either directly or at an angle...or both, so there is nothing but sky and the artwork.

Very nice place and wonderful shoot. Specially the first image is mind blowing !!

Down by the beach at Aberavon again (taken a few days ago)

#1 Gritty, industrial - despite the beach and water in the foreground. If that's what you were after you nailed it.
#2 I like a lot. The distant headland evokes memories of my Navy days. The foreground weight is isolated and highlighted by the wet sand in front.
#3. I agree 100% with Ernicus. Isolate the Squiggle as much as possible. Minimize distractions
#4 Good ephemeral subject. My eye wants more at the top of the photo to give an illusion of travel? distance? Not sure how to term it but my mind's eye wants it.
#5 I like it. like the horizontal composition, the scale and the tiny figures in the surf

In number 1 in the first post, as well as the last photo, your horizon is cutting your photo in half.

Number 2 in the 1st post is the strongest of the group - horizon might be tilted, but can't really tell on my PC at work.

The art work shot is nice, but the background is distracting. Perhaps a shallower DOF might help or a less busy background.

I took a stroll down to the seafront close to where I live around sunset. the sunset itself was hidden by The Gower Peninsula, but stopped by what I call the squiggle. This is a multiple shot combined in Photomatix and then adjusted.
