The mists of morning fog are pretty nice in this image. Out of curiosity, I zipped down in my Googlemobile and found the spot on the I-10 from which you took the image, dodging the tree to the right, and the road-marker to the left...

I had the camera strapped to a box on my front passenger seat and the remote shutter release. I had to pump up the ISO to get the shutter speed I needed to stop the scene. It was quite early with the sun just breaking through the fog to the east which created those nice long shadows. I frequently travel that road as my folks live south off of I-75 and swore for years I'd get that very same shot. The one time I stopped on the side to make the shot, a state trooper made me move on. Seems it is against the law. I know it is against common sense but who on here won't take a bit of a risk for a great shot? I'm preyty sure I shot this with my 24-70 2.8.

Let's see...hm, I 'd just come onto I-10 on a curved, uphill off/onramp which is one of my favorite curves, so I'm guessing I took the curve at 80-ish or more, flattening out my speed at the top to somewhere around a 100 to get ahead of a semi before cranking it down to set up for the shot. I drive a very nicely modified Mini Cooper S with lots of suspension work, (Eibach, Hotchkiss), more than a few motor options - 228 WHP (Revolution Mini Works engine) and I love to drive fast. Life's good - I guess until I blow a tire effing around...:shock:

Yeah, and anyone goes the speed limit on out FL roadways will eventually be rear ended anyway

Huh. Good to know. The highway linking Montreal to Toronto is the 401, and the posted speed limit is 100 Kph (62 mph). "Most" traffic move along at 115-120 (72-75 mph), and frequently you come across "trains" of cars moving at 130-140 (82-88 mph) on the theory that only one of then will get pulled over if a police car catches up with them. Of course, the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) know about this tactic, and from time to time set up traps with 1 radar gun, one officer on the road, and a squad of cars on the side pulling over everyone who exceeds the limit. The safe "fast" speed is 118 (74mph). Above that, you're fair game.
I have, on a few occasions, been passed by someone going easily 160 kph (100 mph), flashing their lights at everyone in their path (pretty much everyone, therefore), and braking suddenly if the flashee did not want to move over. Eh. Darwin will take care of them sooner or later, but hopefully not taking any innocent lives with them at the same time.
And then... you get the sweet lady or gentleman who feels anything above the posted minimum (60 kph/38 mph) is just unsave. When there's a long line of traffic for no apparent reason, one of these is at the head of the line.
