Amusement park/ active kids lens?

Currently using the Canon 30D with the EF28-135mm & f/1.4 50mm. Looking into getting another lens before going to Disney. I have issues with getting my kids in focus as they are always moving. I still want to be able to blur backgrounds but need a lens with fast focus and maybe a wider angle?

ETA- with a budget under $500?

How about the 17-55mm F2.8 IS? It's got a wide max aperture (for a zoom), it's got IS, and it's got a USM focus motor (fast). It's also very expensive, but you didn't give us a budget.
