What lens for the humming bird? Nice shots, just needs more focus, but then again im a newb

The hummer was done with my Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8. (150mm f/11 @ 1/250 ISO 320) He was tough to light in among the tree branches. I wanted to bring out the irridescence of his neck (without scaring him away) and used a bit of fill-flash, but I'm afraid I overdid his shoulder a bit. I actually like the focus and bokeh on the hummer, but the other guy is a bit soft for my taste (done with the 100-300mm f/4 at 300mm).
