Designer, so when I try to burn the area some, it doesn't come out good.

Never mind, it is not needed. Have a look at some of the artist's work and you will see examples of lighting such as in your photo.

I too, like the original. I love the cool tone; reminds me of a selenium print. Keep the original. And the slightly-overexposed puddle works perfectly for you in drawing attention to those little shoes. Very nice.
