Pointers? they say "never work with animals or children" This beasty (Black Chested Buzzard Eagle) was constantly moving. Think this is half decent....might have tried for greater dof, it gets a bit soft aft of the eyes. Taken at the Andover Hawk Conservancy. Nikon D7000, 70-300mm lens.

I don't know who 'they' are but they are wrong its all about person preference nice shot! Its eyes look menacing.

I think the DOF is just fine. It allows the background to blur and you don't need all of him in focus.
Besides all of that the attitude he's giving you makes the shot.
Well done.

Great shot! The DOF doesn't bother me at all. Were you using an extender at all with your lens?

I've been trying to do more nature photography but the best telephoto I've got is the 70-200.

Thanks everyone.....Diddy2theJJ; no, bog standard Nikkor70-300mm. The advantage of this bird as an exhibit was that he was on a tether in his open enclosure and on a perch just beyond the safety rail.
